New York Common Pantry
Description
The New York Common Pantry, the largest community based emergency feeding organization in New York City, is seeking a Bilingual Nutrition Education Program Aide for its Live Healthy! program. Live Healthy! offers hands-on, interactive nutrition education workshops offered to children and adults to improve the overall quality of life of the members and guests of the New York Common Pantry. A strong emphasis is placed on the nutritional value of fresh fruits and vegetables and their impact on healthy living and longevity. This job is a part-time, non-exempt position and requires weekend work. Work schedule is set according to classes offered offsite.
Responsibilities:
-Assist with all aspects of preparation, implementation and take-down for children's health workshops.
-Assist with food preparation and demonstration.
-Provide classroom assistance during the children's health workshops.
-Participate in instruction of physical activity portion of class.
-Ensure that there is adequate supply and materials for each workshop.
-Ensure that all participants of the workshops are signed in correctly.
-Assist with all agency run field trips to Farmer's markets and Upstate farms.
-Enter client activity and research data into agency authorized databases.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Education Program Manager
-Help with transportation of equipment to workshops. Lifting equipment in excess of 30 lbs.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years experience working in nutrition education, exercise training or other health related field. Strong interest in active and healthy living. Strong clerical and organizational skills. Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task. Must be comfortable working with diverse populations. English/Spanish bilingual required. Must be able to lift 80lbs+. Knowledge of client tracking programs a plus.
