The Senior Program Associate will work with the Executive Director and other professional and support staff in this highly visible position and will contribute to the implementation of NASW- NYC's goals relating to strengthening the social work profession in New York City through enhancing the capacity of the Chapter.

The Senior Program Associate will play a key role in NASW-NYC's small and fast paced office, and the potential for professional growth is integral to this position. Responsibilities include coordinating a broad range of programs and projects, including electronic communications, membership development, development of non-dues revenue, continuing education, relevant activities, as well as serving as a supervisor and team leader. Commitment to the value and diversity of the social work profession is essential.

1.Collaborate with the Executive Director, staff and Chapter leaders in carrying out program objectives.

2.Plan and coordinate selected activities and events relating to membership recruitment and retention, the annual meeting, continuing education, awards dinner, and involvement of social work students and new professionals.

3.Coordinate electronic communications through the production of six issues of the newsletter, announcements, updating the website, and development of other media.

4.Assist in the development of non-dues revenue such as fund raising and advertising.

5.Provide supervision and/or support to administrative staff, consultants, contracted coordinators, and intern(s), as needed.

6.Provide staff support to selected board and program related committees and task forces.

7.Provide staff consultation to NASW members on a range of issues, including licensing.

1.Proven ability in administration, including managing projects, supervision and coordination of staff and interns; and capacity to identify objectives and achieve outcomes. 2.Strong communication skills, both verbal and though various electronic media. 3.Ability to work independently as well as in close collaboration with others, to be detail oriented, to simultaneously work on multiple tasks, and to meet deadlines. 4.Strong conceptual and problem solving skills. 5.Clear potential for professional and leadership development. 6.Skill in interpersonal relations and in facilitating task oriented groups or committees. 7.Commitment to culturally competent practice, social justice and to the social work profession. 8.Knowledge of social work practice, programs, and professional issues, including the needs and interests of NASW’s constituencies. 9.Ability to work evenings and selected weekends.

Minimum Requirements:

•Three years post-masters experience in social work, especially in administration, including project management and supervision.
•Experience working with volunteers to develop objectives and carry out activities.
•A NYS social work license and NASW membership in NASW are highly desirable for this position.
