Description:
Electronic medical records and patient privacy mandates have created an increased demand for health care IT professionals. The Advanced Certificate in Health Information Technology prepares graduates for careers in health and medical informatics in academic, industrial, and hospital and other health care settings.
Our students are trained to use information technology for efficient, accurate health care delivery and management. People who choose this specialization are often IT professionals pursuing health information management or health care professionals pursuing information technology specializations. Our curriculum was developed from the model curriculum of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). It also aligns with the criteria of the Commission on Accreditation for Health Information and Information Management (CAHIIM).
This certificate program is open for application through University College, and the following additional requirements also apply:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA Completed undergraduate statistics course Completed undergraduate information systems course A 500-word essay on reasons for applying to the program Two letters of recommendation
