Grant writing is a highly valued skill in not-for-profit agencies and organizations, but the process can be complicated and confusing. Both beginning and experienced grant writers will benefit from this comprehensive, informative session exploring the components of a successful grant proposal and the most common pitfalls agencies and organizations face when competing for grants. Participants will look at the importance of developing a solid evaluation plan and the significance of including best practices into program development. Attention will be given to what makes programs and proposals most effective and how to increase the probability of funding.

Through this workshop, participants will:

•Receive a thorough overview of the ingredients of a winning proposal

•Learn the difference between grants and contracts

•Receive up-to-date information on trends in giving

•Practice incorporating literature review to ascertain knowledge of populations of interest
