"The Gang's All Here: Collecting and Researching the Downtown Scene" with Marvin Taylor and Cynthia Carr Thursday, November 15, 2012, 6:00PM - 8:00PM 20 Cooper Square, 5th Floor
Marvin Taylor, Director of Fales Library and Special Collections at NYU, presents highlights from the Downtown Collection of Fales, which includes the personal papers of artists, filmmakers, writers and performers; archives of art galleries, theatre groups, and art collectives; and collections relating to AIDS activism and off-off- Broadway theater. Afterwards, hear Cynthia Carr speak on her latest book, Fire in the Belly: The Life and Times of David Wojnarowicz (Bloomsbury, 2012), which is the first biography on the influential Downtown artist-activist. Read reviews from The New York Times, Huffington Post, and the LA Review of Books. The David Wojnarowicz Papers are located in the Downtown Collection at Fales.
