Every day, thousands of New Yorkers pass through Family Courts in each borough. There, they wrestle over custody of and support for children, allegations of abuse and neglect, and charges of crimes by juveniles.

No court deals with society's problems on a more intimate level. But little attention is paid to the operation of Family Court, or its profound struggle to manage a challenging caseload with resources that stretch thinner every year.

City Limits spent three months watching what happens in Family Court, day in and day out. This is what we saw.
