Mark Anthony Thomas

Mark Anthony Thomas is the Director of City Limits, overseeing the organization’s operations, publishing, and development. He has previously served as the Deputy Director of the Center for an Urban Future, a think tank, and led public relations for the Ben-Gurion University's Medical School for International Health. He began his career with the Georgia-Pacific Corporation (a subsidiary of Koch Industries), managing philanthropic and sustainability efforts.

He is a Co-Organizer for the New York Online News Association, serves on the board for the CUNY Center for Community and Ethnic Media and teaches public management at CUNY's School of Professional Studies. Mark has been honored with the Hull Fellowship from the Southeastern Council on Foundations, is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta's LEAD class, and has served in a number of civic roles in education, media, and public affairs.

As a creative artist, Mark has published two poetry books, and toured the country speaking at literary events and universities. He founded the Red Tie Soiree, an annual multi-city charity event, and has produced work for TV1/NewsOne, Upscale Magazine, and inspired the winning short film for Getty Image's 2012 Global Video Competition. He is a graduate of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and the University of Georgia, where he became the first African American Editor-In-Chief of the school’s independent newspaper, The Red & Black.
