Our mission: to foster the development, appreciation & understanding of the rich Afro-Puerto Rican traditions, namely Bomba and Plena. We combine local programs, affordable community/private performances and innovative entrepreneurial tours and residencies to: increase access of public traditional music programs; expose NYC youth & new audiences to Puerto Rican cultural heritage and encourage their active participation in them; and to present an original & standard repertoire embedded in these rich traditions to audiences worldwide.
Traditional arts are the backbone of human connections as conveyors of ageless collective memory and the universal process of “becoming”. Our work likens these art forms as common languages and expressions relevant to audiences and practitioners of all backgrounds.
